Building History

This wood-frame butcher shop stood in a row of small businesses on Commercial Street (what became 1st Avenue South) north of Washington Street in 1878. Other early businesses in this commercial row on the westside of Commercial Street included the Treen Shoe Store, San Francisco Store (later renamed "Toklas and Singerman"), and W.A. Jennings Grocery.
