Building Notes

The Lankershim Building stood on the east side of Spring Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1887, p. 255.)

Alteration

Architect Robert Brown Young (1855-1914) designed this addition to a building owned by Annis Lydia Moore Lankershim (1818-1901). According to the Los Angeles Heraldon 12/08/1886:Mr. Young also let the contract for a large addition to Mrs. A.L. Lankershim's building on Spring street, to be used as a show room; the largest of its kind in the city, containing 15,000 square feet, two stories high, with an elevator."
