Overview

Founded in 1957 by Delmar Atwwood Johnson (1914-1992) and his wife, Helen Gertrude Carter Johnson (1924-2007), the Culver City-based, Sizzler steakhouse chain opened its first Northern CA branch in the Southgate Commercial Park in 1965. This first franchise in the north was managed by Jack Combs who invested about $125,000 into the restaurant originally. Architect Sooky Lee worked with the Richardson Brothers of Sacramento who served as building contractors. This Sizzler opened on Tuesday, 06/15/1965.
