Overview

In 1907, the Mechanics Bank operated at this location in 1907. At this time, Arthur H. Green served as President, George W. Tubbs was its Vice-President and J.C. Dickson, its Cashier. The Board of Directors included W.T. Dalton, George Tubbs, John A. Pirtle, J.C. Dickson, W.N. Caswell, Arthur Green and Dr. R.S. Petter. (See advertisement in the Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1907, Banks and Commercial Institutions, p. I.) The Mechanics Bank was a small bank by 1907-standards, owning $10,500 in capital at the time, and had been set up during 1906-1907. (See "New State Banks, Bankers, Etc.," Bankers Magazine, vol.
