Overview

A portion of a statute passed by the State Legislature of California in 1858, read "The claim of Augustus F. Eisen, for work done on Treasurer's office, in one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, the sum of one hundred and twenty-two dollars and eighteen cents, is hereby audited and allowed." (See "Chap. CCXXIII--An Act to audit Certain Claims," The Statutes of California Passed at the Ninth Session of the Legislature, 1858, [Sacramento: John O'Meara, State Printer, 1858], p. 182.) As the work was done in 1856, architect A.F. Eisen (1824-1873) had to wait two years to have the audit done and get paid.
