Building History

An early name for this school was the "Belvedere Gardens High School." (See Southwest Builder and Contractor, 07/04/1924, p. 50.)

Alteration

In 1924, Los Angeles architect George M. Lindsey (1891-1973) produced plans for several additional facilities at Garfield High School, including a 20-room administrative building, mechanical arts building, home economics building, classrooms for the domestic science program, cafeteria and gymnasium. These addition were estimated to cost $600,000. (See "Garfield High School," Southwest Builder and Contractor, 11/07/1924, p. 55, col 1.)
