The Cosmopolitan Hotel occupied the southwest corner at the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and South Main Street.

Overview

The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Saloon operated at this location in 05/1897. A notice in the Seattle Times read: "The Cosmopolitan Hotel will open up the first half of the month and will be managed by Cahoon and Medham." (See "The Week's Cleanup," Seattle Times, 05/01/1897, p. 10.) This weekly column pertained to local mining news, so the Cosmopolitan probably served many miners working locally and those traveling to the Klondike for gold.

Demolition

The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Saloon was razed, and in its place the Headquarters of the City of Seattle Fire Department was built in 1927-1928.
