Overview

The Hotel Melrose or Melrose Hotel, was listed in the Seattle Times newspaper as in operation from c. 1909 until about 1917. H.M. Hedgeman worked as manager of the Hotel Melrose before 1915. Manager Oscar Carlson operated the Hotel Merose at 421 Pike Street according to the Seattle City Directory of 1916 (p. 1769). The newspaper listed it as operating at 421 Pike until about 03/1917. It appears that this first Hotel Melrose went out of business around 1917.

By 03/1925, a second Hotel Melrose had an address of 1525 1/2 3rd Avenue, and would be demolished in 1928 for the United Shopping Tower (Olympic Tower).
