Overview

This lithography business begun by Max Schmidt in 1872, had grown to huge proportions by 1900. The Schmidt Lithography Company printed all sorts of documents, labels and containers for a range of clients across the West. Its previous three-story plant at 2nd and Bryant Streets burned in the fire following the San Francisco Earthquake of 04/18/1906. This new plant reopened at 2nd and Brannan Streets in 1908.

Alteration

A notice in an 1925 issue (month unknown) of the Architect and Engineer (vols. 80-81) on page 122, stated that a four-story, reinforced-concrete addition to the Schmidt Lithograph plant was under construction at 2nd and Brannan Streets in San Francisco, CA. R. McLeran and Company had the contract for the addition.
