Building History

Based in Notre Dame, IN, the Sisters of the Holy Cross founded this hospital in the Los Angeles suburb of Mission Hills, CA, in 1961. The well-funded, Renton, WA-based Sisters of Providence assumed responsibility for the facility on 05/01/1996; the Sisters of Providence Healthcare system, later renamed Providence Health and Services, began to grow rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s, absorbing less solvent entities such as the Holy Cross Medical Center. In 2014, the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills contained 377 beds, and offered a Blood Donor Center, as well as imaging, emergency, surgical, home care, rehabilitation, gynecological, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, oncological and stroke care, obstetric, and hospice services. It also cited "Tattoo Removal" as one of its specialties on its home page in 2014.
