Architect Andrew J. Smith designed this large, Queen Anne Style residence for Henry Hewitt, Jr., in the Buckley's Hill neighborhood of Tacoma, WA. Building permits were issued in 12/1889. Members of the Hewitt Family seem to have lived here until 1939, when Mrs. William Hewitt put the residence up for sale. It was bought after a month on the market by a WA State employee, E.E. Rhodes. The house was also owned by Edgar T. Short. The Tacoma Public Library's remarkable Tacoma-Pierce County Buildings Index lists numerous articles on the Hewitt House.

Demolished; the Hewitt House was razed in 05/1956.
