Western Avenue a block south of Slauson Avenue;

Gallery built for Francesco Pinedo and his wife an partner, Alba, and their furniture company, Cisco Brothers Corporation; the 80,000 square-foot showroom was started to sell the work of local furniture designers; the LA Design Center was seen as an important new business to repopulate South Central Los Angeles in 2004; the remodeling cost $1.5 million; this portion of the project was known as Phase One; a later stage, (Phase Three), included a communal garden at the corner of South Western Avenue and Slauson Avenue; LA Design Center won a 2004 American Institute of Architects Award for Architecture;

Thr center is a remodel of four existing industrial buildings that used to house a brick making company in the 1920s;
