The Journal of Electricity, Power and Gas reported in its 10/09/1909 issue: "Plans are being drawn by Architects Berndt & Tegan [sic], Portland, Ore., for a steam plant to generate electricity and furnish heat for the new St. Joseph's Hospital, the Sisters' Academy and the old hospital."
