Seattle, WA-born architect John T. Jacobsen (1903-1998) designed Sea Life Park and its research buildings which first opened in 1964. Sea Life Park was designed for Taylor A. Pryor, Director of the Oceanic Institute of Honolulu, HI, and Sea Life Park. Dolphin Discovery, based in Cancun, Mexico, purchased Sea Life Park in 2005, which, in turn, sold it to Newport Beach, CA-based Palace Entertainment in 2008. Palace Entertainment was bought by the Spanish company Parques Reunidos, based in Madrid.
