Building Notes

The Washington Trust Company operated its main offices at 1st Avenue and Madison Street on 06/17/1908. At this time, Directors of the bank included: J.W. Klise, A.B. Kerry, J.W. Godwin, John Schram, W.P. Trimble, George F. Stone, William Pigott, C.E. Burnside, C.J. Smith, C.H. Cobb, J.M. Frink, O.J. Humphrey, W.W. Chapin, S.P. Weston and H.R. Clise. According to HistoryLink.org: "In 1904, [James W.] Clise and investors organized the Washington Trust and Savings Bank, which merged with the Dexter Horton Trust and Savings Bank in 1912, and eventually became Seattle First National Bank.
