The Los Angeles architect McNeal Swasey (1891-1946) designed this factory for the Cleveland, OH-based manufacturer of paints, founded in 1866. The Sherwin Williams Company established its first West Coast paint dealership in 1892 in San Diego, CA. Its first West Coast factory was established in Oakland, CA, in 1919.
