Atomics International was a division of North American Aviation (NAA), a leading aerospace/defense conglomerate operating in Southern CA in the 1930-1960s. NAA had two of its divisions--Rocketdyne and Atomics International--located near to each other in Canoga Park, CA. Atomics did a great deal of nuclear energy research work on a contract basis for various branches of the Federal Government in the 1950s-1960s at Canoga Park and NAA's Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL). In later years, Atomics merged with another former NAA Division, Rocketdyne, in 1978.
