Seattle building contractor, Joseph W. Bailey, Sr., and his wife, Helen, lived in this house with their three children, Joseph, Jr., Doreen and Gordon, in 1939.

Architect's own house; This four-bedroom, three-bath house had 2 stories and resided on 4,545 square feet of property. House and land had an appraised value of $1,381,000 in 2010.

The house underwent alterations in 1999. An enormous shed gable was built on the front of the dwelling's gable roof c. 1945, but this was later removed. At some point between the mid-20th century and 2010, the house acquired faux Tudor half-timbering on the exterior.
