Building History

Built by the Woman's Century Club in 1925, this brick-faced building was sold by the group to new owners in 1968 who transformed it into an art house movie theatre, the Harvard Exit. Seattle architect Pierce A. Horrocks designed the building.

Alteration

Owners of the Harvard Exit installed an additional cinema in an upstairs ballroom in the 1980s. Alterations to a first floor bathroom, done c. 2008, made the facility wheelchair accessible. To produce more revenue, ownership also enlarged the lucrative concession counter at the same time, and created an interior ticket booth, sheltered from precipitation.
