Mrs. J.C. Riley sold her large house to C.R. Buschmann, Manager of the Northwest Fisheries Company in 10/1914 for a whopping $20,000. The house, according to a Seattle Times article of 10/18/1914, was located well for views: "The location is sightly and the large residence is one of the view spots of the district."

New owner C.H. Buschmann planned on alterations to the residence and hired architect F.W. Bohns to oversee construction in 1914.
