Building History

Oil executive Herbert G. Wylie (b. 10/20/1867 in Ireland) provided funds for the erection of this $280,000 chapel, plans for which were being prepared in 11/1945. The dedication ceremony took place on 07/16/1949. Alison and Rible designed the red-brick chapel, and Ray Myers served as the building contractor.

When built in 1949, the Gothic Revival Wylie Chapel seated 250. Its Gothic style matched that of the main church completed in 1925.
