Building History

Between 1924 and 1947, the City of South Gate and local businesspeople proposed to build new City Halls in 1924 (the first built), 1931 (unbuilt), 1938 (unbuilt), 1942 (built), and 1946 (unbuilt). The 1946 building project was designed by the Los Angeles firm of Allen and Lutzi, according to the Southwest Builder and Contractor (07/26/1946). In 1964, a third South Gate City Hall was completed.
