This Richardsonian Romanesque Federal Building presented a sober and stable appearance, underscoring the solidity of the American Federal Government. The building stood on a tall basement, with the first floor entry elevated by two sets of steps. An arched Roman window hung above the front door, illuminating the front lobby.
