Gregory Ain was listed as a collaborator on the Beard House, located at 1981 Meadowbrook Road, Altadena, CA.. This steel-frame building consisted of 1,200 square feet; Steel parts produced by the H.H. Robertson Company of Pittsburgh, PA, composed the walls and all horizontal spans. A foundation slab composed of diatomaceous material served as a radiant heat source. Most of the floor space was concentrated in a large living/dining room that occupied the center part of the plan. On the east side of the dwelling, was a U-shaped kitchen and in front a 2-car garage. on the west side Neutra arranged a study toward the front and a bedroom in back. The garage was dug into the hillside site. The north side of the Beard House was designed to take best advantage of the nearby Sierra Madre Range.
