Building History

San Francisco architect Samuel Newsom (1848-1908) designed the Fraternal Hall in association with the Palo Alto supervising architect W.T. Rhodes. M.P. Madison was the local building contractor.

Building Notes

The University Drug Company had first-floor retail space in Palo Alto's Fraternal Hall building in 1906.

Alteration

In 1905, the San Francisco architectural firm of Newsom and Newsom, operated by Samuel and his son, Sidney B. Newsom (1877-1942), designed an addition to the Fraternal Hall. George Mosher, a general contractor, erected this annex.

The stucco material facing the second floor of the Fraternal Hall fell off during the 1906 Earthquake.
