The Los Angeles firm of Morgan, Walls and Clements designed this 13-story high-rise, Phoenix's first designed solely for medical and dental professionals. It stands as the largest building in Arizona clad entirely in limestone.

The Professional Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A top floor was appended in 1958. It was to be converted into condominiums and an expensive hotel called "The Monroe" c. 2002-2004.
