Overview

Elizabeth Ayer, the first registered female architect in the State of WA, worked as an Associated Architect with Edwin J. Ivey on the Seattle Children's Home project. As a woman architect, Ayer's participation was seen as particularly appropriate during the time because it involved making children comfortable in a hospital setting that was to have some semblance of a home.

Building History

Elizabeth Ayer took an active part with the Ivey firm on the design of the Seattle Children's Home.
